Kelley Blue Book: 2019 Jeep Wrangler Has the Lowest Five-Year Cost of Ownership Among Off-Road Compact SUVs

There are no further numbers left to crunch: the new Jeep Wrangler has the lowest projected ownership costs across its first five years, according to the Internet wing of the auto research and valuation expert, KBB.com. It clinched our automaker's iconic two-door compact crossover a 5-Year Cost to Own Award, in fact, making 2019 the fifth consecutive year that Wrangler has taken home the honor. It was even the first year that the Jeep SUV advanced to the coveted Off-Road SUV/Crossover category, defeating a fierce competitor in the 2019 Toyota 4Runner. So, what made it such a great value?

For one, 2019 Wrangler showed much lower depreciation than many other compact SUVs designed to go off-road, owing to strong residuals. Secondly, it showed less in the way of state taxes and fees and insurance, fuel, maintenance, and repair costs, not to mention a lower financing APR than most. That made it, said KBB, one of the most capable and affordable new crossovers around. They summed it up perfectly in a few phrases, actually: 2019 Wrangler is "top of its class for its trail prowess" yet a "civilized [and] satisfying daily driver [belying its] off-road ability." Plus, its "numbers are also at the top of the segment."
